1 x Pear
Some soaked almonds (overnight or for 4 hrs)
- Drain the almonds and place in blender along with fresh water. Don’t use the soaking water as it contains enzyme inhibitors, which we have puposly flushed out with soaking.
- Remove the core of the pear along with the stem. There is no need to peel the pear.
- Blend in the blender on high speed. Best blender is the vitamix in my opinion but any blender will do.
Suitable as breakfast or as a snack during the day. Tip: Always have some soaked almonds on the go. They keep for about 2 days in the soaking water. Ideal for the odd pear to be used up; spot the pear in the evening -> put almonds on soak and have it the next morning.
Helps sooth sore nerves (due to the vata soothing qualities of almonds).
Almonds are a source of vitamin E, copper, magnesium, and high quality protein. Almonds also contain high levels of healthy unsaturated fatty acids in addition to a lot of bioactive molecules (such as fiber, phytosterols, vitamins, other minerals, and antioxidants) which can help prevent cardiovascular heart diseases.
Pears provide a very good source of fiber and are also a good source of vitamin B2, C, E, copper, and potassium. They also contain a significant amount of pectin, which is a water soluble fiber. Pears are actually higher in pectin than apples.
